Temperature in the house (and car) is exactly as you like it
Flirt away!
No one to tell you not to wear that sheer blouse
Music selection (and volume) is your call
Your good mood isn’t at risk because of someone’s bad day at the office
More time for hobbies
No reason to account for those expensive shoes you just bought
Closet space for those shoes
Deciding what movie to see, what time to see it, and where to sit
Knowing those cookies you’re looking forward to, will still be there when you want them

I’ll just come out with it: I love Tim Gunn.

When it comes to style, nobody tells you how to “make it work” more simply and kindly than Gunn, who became a household name on Bravo’s Fashion Runway.

Tim’s popularity led him to host his own show, Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style, which is a serious favorite of mine. Every week, Tim and his co-host, Gretta Monahan, take some poor lost soul by the hand and show her how to make the most of her own unique beauty.  What I especially love about Tim is his kindness. He seems to genuinely like his subjects. He rejoices in their success.

And that’s the point of fashion, isn’t it? It’s not about buying up racks of stuff that Vogue Editrix Anna Wintour determines to be de rigeur this season. It’s not about what looks good on Sarah Jessica Parker. It’s about what works on you.

I never snap off Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style without taking away a tip I can use in my own life. Check out the show’s website for some you can use in yours.
