Product Review: Go Green with your kitty litter

I’ve tried nearly every cat litter brand on the market; they’re either too dusty, clump poorly, or don’t attack odors well enough (and I need a litter with serious odor control since my cat poops like a grown man).

I’ve finally found one that is inexpensive (at least at Walmart and Target; one Petco tried to charge me $18), goes a long way, and hides odors with every step: Arm & Hammer Essentials Natural Clumping Litter. It’s made of 100% natural corn fibers - no harsh chemicals for you or your kitty.  Make no mistake, I’m a little skeptical of some all-natural products; my friend once told me she used an all-natural deodorant that failed her in the middle of the day and I’m not surprised, but whatever Arm & Hammer has done works in this cat litter.

According to Arm & Hammer, Essentials Cat Litter “absorbs two times more liquid than regular clumping clay litter, eliminates odors instantly, provides rock-solid clumping and is virtually dust free.”

It is formulated with a proprietary blend of 100% natural corn fibers that combine with ARM & HAMMER® Baking Soda to effectively absorb urine and eliminate odors instantly. Plus ARM & HAMMER® Essentials™ Clumping Cat Litter* is biodegradable and has a softer footing that cats prefer. So it’s better for your home, your cat and the environment! Harness the Power of Nature™ for outstanding odor elimination with natural ingredients, and keep your home naturally odor-free with ARM & HAMMER® Essentials™ Clumping Cat Litter*

The litter is light to carry home from the store, and the clumps are significantly lighter when you scoop the litter box.  If you scoop and refill everyday, you can make a whole bag last about a month.  Plus it’s got a nice scent. If you’ve been trying to go green, start with this kitty litter.

Good to know! I prefer natural products whenever possible, but like you said, I wonder about some of them! (Especially when there’s a possibility that my home might stink, LOL!) I think I’ll try it next when my current litter runs out.
